My name is Ben. I'm 19, and I record songs that are too long for radio play.

I'm self taught, on everything but the violin and I record in the small room above my parents' garage.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I don't mind answering.

I'm not into the urban lifestyle at all... I don't get the rap attitude at all.. and song explains why and / or what. I hope you like it... It's a couple of years old and was part of the Stormrider project. All instrumentals are by me (guitars, bass, keyboard organ) and voice too.

I'm personally not too happy with the vocals or the lyrics... but I really wouldn't know what else to do with this.

enjoy... . . . ?

Bee-Bop-A-Doo

A Summery song i wrote about a year ago. It's a lovey summery song. Chorus doesn't make much sense, but then, why should it? I re-recorded it the other day, and added some Ukelele. I build up the instruments one by one. I tend to do that a lot when i'm composing.

Comment on the break in the middle. Weird? My friend suggested it, and i haven't really come up with anything better. It seems to fit, in a weird sort of way!

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Bee-bop-a-doo, and i'm feeling really cool,
I got my skat-man-do, and i'm thinking of you!

Verse1
When i see that face of yours, smiling at mine when i open the door, for ya
You make me happier then i've ever been, you're the prettiest thing i've e-ver seen

Verse2
Let's take a trip for a weekend away, it'll be so good we'll wanna stay
I pop the question "Will you marry me?", lets be together for eter-nity!

Verse3
I love you more than a miner loves gold, i want to stay together till we both grow old
You make me happier than i've ever been, you're the prettiest thing i've e-ver seen

Frights

Again another U-Tow song :dead: .., a song about love, life and.. frights

Not totally became as I imagined when writing this one.
On one side I'm happy about the beautiful things the band added, on the other hand, it gets saturating in a way(to me), I can't point out whats wrong or missing or...?

I think it might be in the distorted guitar parts which are to much of the same....................i don't know, maybe you do?
(I also mixed Hugo's rhythm-distortion too loud a bit, but that hasn't anything to do with this I guess :P)

In the beginning(god spoke..) I added a third guitar part (the low '7' chords!), its slightly off here and there, but i liked the idea so i couldn't miss it anymore and left it for another time(which still has to come) to rerecord.

I played the clean intro, which is actually the way I played the whole song acoustic, (but left out some notes to break it), and the new third part, but Hugo did the great slide part and the solo!
(In the photoalbum you'll find a pic of the band, beneath it I introduced the band if your interested..)

ps. lyrics were originally mine, but ofcourse Lawrence has rewritten and added some parts( he always does :P)

well, if you don't like the song, at least you have something to read :P

FRIGHTS (lyrics Marco den Bakker/Lawrence Payne)

If I could tell you all about the cold…
& the scary sensation of growing old…alone…

If I could tell you all about the lies…
& the awkward experience of being tied…
…to a human being, gradually becoming strange…
& stranger…until I found out it was me…

…All this Time…All those Frights…
Stubborn me…still wanting my own way, again…

Now I just told you all about my frights…
&why I deny…oh, being denied!?…

Still wanting it revealed, right now…
Well, where’s the reason & where is the Truth?…
Why is this existence failing badly?…
…Oh, why?…

Why not believe there wasn’t anything between us?…
Why not believe nothing’s true?…
Why not believe there wasn’t anything between us?…
…Not a thing?…Is that your Truth?…

SOLO

Still wanting it revealed, right now…
Well, where’s the reason & where is the Truth?…
Why is this existence failing?…
..Please, tell me why?…

You tried to believe there wasn’t anything between us…
You tried to believe no one loved you…
You tried to believe there wasn’t anything between us…
…Not a thing?…that love could do…do for you...

Crack - Crack

Another song with my band.
This is instrumental... or could have vox if the vocalist can create something when he is back.
This a completely freak composition we did and it has completely freak structure. We are going to add some saxo to some parts, but very subtle.
Once again we have some recording, mixing and timing problems, but just details, cause the main idea of the song is pretty understandable and enjoyable.
Hope you like it, and PLEASE leave a COMMENT!

          > Iszil

PS: BTW, if you didn't noticed, the band's name is Oir.

As Long As...

Didn't plan these lyrics at all. I decided to avoid the typical verse/chorus/verse layout cause I didn't want to overcrowd it with my voice.
Debating weather or not to put vocal harmonies in on another day.

Lyrics:

Trapped inside a song,
From someone elses head,
Wishing it was me,
Who thought of it instead...

Well as long as I have ears,
And as long as I have a voice,
And as long as I can feel,
Well I don't have a choice.

I'll never be the type with a mortgage,
Three kids and two cars
Up the drive, cause I wont survive,
I'll never be the type with a steady job,
I'll never be the type with a clean house,
I'll never, never, never...

Well as long as I have ears,
And as long as I have a voice,
And as long as I can feel,
Well I don't have a choice. (X2)

Well I got tired of strumming guitar chords for a while and decided to synthesize another song in FL studio.

This is a bit out of balance, over-compressed and a little repetitive, but I'm really not concerend.

Evergreen

Finally! It works! this is quite seriously my 6th attempt at getting this song to load and play. Well done Chester. Well done.

Yes, so this is an old song... but has always held sentimental value with me :)

Check out my other stuff, I load another 2 songs today. A piano one, and then half a song... because i lost the other half... long story.

Seems a lot of people are adding lyrics. So I thought I'd put mine on a couple of songs :)

VERSE 1

So you’ve run away again?
And left nothing in your place.
Except a shadow and a sin,
Etched forever in your space.

PRECHORUS:

Than she turns to you and smiles,
At where you’ve been.
And says life ain’t,
Evergreen.

CHORUS:

Come fall down,
Get blown around.
You’re a leaf up in the air,
And it’s the autumn of your year.

VERSE 2

Well time is coming round the bend,
It seems you try too hard to smile.
And it’s only near the end,
That you find your inner child.

PRECHORUS:
It’s always,
Inbetween.
That you find life ain’t,
Evergreen.

CHORUS:

Come fall down,
Get blown around.
You’re a leaf up in the air,
And it’s the autumn of your year. X2

OUTRO:

You’re a leaf up in the air,
And it’s the autumn of your year.
Your year.

Uploaded this a few minutes ago... found some mistakes... fixed, uploaded again... found more mistakes... fixed, uploaded a third time. Third time's a charm? I hope so.

This was written/recorded yesterday. Mixed well into the night...

I'm particularly proud of my "African" drummery, via my "African" drum that I purchased years ago and then never touched... until now.

Brave New World

Well, I discovered bar chords and Aldous Huxley's novel Brave New world at the same time, smashed the two ideas together and came up with this.

Lyrics:
BRAVE NEW WORLD
INTRO
VERSEI
Can you see lights at night
They come down from the sky
Striking in our hearts great joy
Yet we just want to die
In the yard the children play
Everything should be okay
Naked alone and without fear
Yet we know that the end is near

CHORUSI
Brave New World (several times)

VERSEII
Centrifugal bubbly puppy
Children are all carbon copies
Lose the news
Forget the hour
Just listen to the
Alpha power

CHORUSII
Brave New World (several times)

VERSE III
Father Mother Democracy
Now All of it is history
Read books not
And feel a lot
And hope the epsilon can rot away

CHEEZY BRIDGE

VERSE IV (outro)
Have you heard it all before?
Is this like 1984?
But it seems so far away
So there is not much let to say but
Gather round
And educate
Take the ignorance away
New world new world new world new world.

Gman (original)

Well since WillyDavidK posted our horrible on-the-road collaboration of Gman, I suppose I should post the original.

This was my very very first song, written sometime in the abyss between 2000-2001 in a midi sequencing program, I then put it in Audacity with random phasors and other awful filters, to make this horribly lo-fi techno song.

The samples of the guy talking are from the game Half-life.
